JOB TITLE: Grounds Crew

REPORT TO: Grounds Crew Leader
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt
PAY GRADE: AUX 3
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Grounds Crew is responsible for the daytoday care and maintenance of the district grounds ensure that all facilities are safe neat and attractive.
All employees of Spring ISD are expected to act with integrity support organizational goals communicate in a clear and respectful manner championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas drivers license
Preferred:
- At least one year of experience in lawn gardening and landscape maintenance
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Ability to operate power equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
- Operate tools equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established procedures for locking checking and safeguarding equipment and facilities.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Mow and detail of all district grounds as indicated or according to work orders.
- Care for grass trees shrubs and flowers by planting watering pruning fertilizing mulching caring for beds and controlling weeds.
- Collect and dispose of leaves dirt rubbish and refuse from district facilities.
- Establish and maintain care and watering schedules including spraying fertilizing and pruning.
- Install test adjust and repair sprinkler systems as needed.
- Keep vehicles supplied with tools and materials.
- Move equipment from facility to facility.
- Erect and maintain playground equipment.
- Follow all safety regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Safety goggles; rubber gloves and back support belts as needed; garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including backhoe tractor grader; and power mower; ladders; scaffolds; light truck or van
- Posture: Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
- Motion: Frequent walking grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving
- Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying 45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
- Environment: Work outside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures dust noise vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work with team members; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: ability to work in a fastpaced laborintensive work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruption. Overtime is required as necessary.
