Job Description

Work with the brightest minds including exISRO scientists and global space industry experts at one of the select few companies in the country pioneering cutting edgeEO payloads.

Seeking an Optomechanical Engineer to design develop and optimize mechanical configurations and interfaces for advanced Optical payloads collaborating with crossfunctional teams to create and test innovative payload systems for Earth observation in Low Earth Orbit.

About KaleidEO

KaleidEO a subsidiary of SatSure is an upstream leader in Earth Observation building a fullstack company from India.

As an analyticsfirst payload innovator we focus on building nextgen payloads tailored for industryspecific applications.

Our highresolution optical multispectral payloads equipped with edge computing and wide coverage capabilities maximize the value generated from every pixel of satellite imagery.

Rooted in SatSures legacy of delivering lastmile applications across sectors like Utilities Aviation Agriculture BFSI and Climate Action KaleidEO offers modular solutions for the entire EO value chain spanning payload development launch mission operations and data analytics

At KaleidEO we are committed to shaping the future of Earth Observation and putting Indian space tech on a global map and we invite you to be part of this exciting journey.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • As an Optomechanical engineer at KaleidEO you will be designing developing and optimizing mechanical configurations and interfaces for complex optical payloads to be used for earth observation.

  • It will require a close working relationship with optical engineers satellite/payload system engineers and other stakeholders to design build and test new complex payload systems for use in Low Earth Orbit.

  • Manage mechanical work packages producing schedules resource estimates and design development plans.

  • Design optomechanical systems using appropriate tools from initial design concept to detailed final design.

  • Perform FEA of mechanical systems oriented to determine frequency response mechanical stresses and deformations due to dynamic forces and loads including thermal load cases.

  • Drive and maintain the mechanical alignment budget at the system level.

  • Derive build and test procedures for the payload along with the optical designer and AIT engineers/partners. Derive calibration procedures for the assembly.

  • Research and select COTS/custom materials and parts appropriate for the designcreate and manage payloadlevel BoMs and contribute to interface controls documents.

  • Review possible layouts/orientations to optimize design elements. Design assemble and test mechanical parts including ground support equipment for lab testing on imager prototypes and flight models.

  • Produce/manage the production of manufacturing drawings to enable the designs to be manufactured and support manufacturing processes.

  • Maintain a design log summarising each step in the design and development process. Present in design reviews.

  • Work with crossfunctional global teams with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering masters preferred or closely related subject.
  • Work experience of 5 years in optomechanical systems.

Must have:

  • Experience with designing precision optomechanical systems with a strong understanding of optical metrology and optical testing methods.

  • Proven experience working with CAD (Solidworks or Siemens NX) generating detailed toleranced mechanical fabrication drawings.

  • Experience in the design of electromechanical mechanisms precision mechanics and/or precision motion control is desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience in performing FEA model simplification simulation and analysis. Specifically for opticalstructural performance for static deformations modal analysis and thermal deformation.

  • Excellent analytical problemsolving verbal and written communication skills.

Good to have:

  • Basic understanding of multiple domains of satellite engineering such as space systems sensors inorbit operations and the effect of thermomechanical distortions on image quality.

  • Experience in designing for highreliability space environments designing for launch survivability vacuum and onorbit thermal conditions (STOP).

  • Experience with the design and fabrication of glass/composite/metallic/ceramic assemblies epoxies mechanisms and electrical components in the context of optomechanical systems.

  • Basic knowledge of optical design.

  • Designing analyzing modeling and simulating heat transfer and thermal management solutions.

Benefits

  • Medical Health Cover for you and your family including unlimited online doctor consultations.

  • We believe family comes first. Thats why we offer Maternity Paternity Marriage and Bereavement Leave so you can be there when it matters most.

  • We ensure every member of the team gets an opportunity to participate at international events and conferences.

  • Access to mental health experts for you and your family.
