Why Austal

Austalis Australias global shipbuilder Defence prime contractor and maritime technology partner of choice designing constructing and supporting defence and commercial vessels for the worlds leading operators. The company operates in Australia the USA Philippines and Vietnam.

Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence employing approximately 1000 people in facilities in located Western Australia Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the payroll team you will be responsible for ensuring accurate compliant and timely payroll processing. Your role will also involve maintaining payroll systems ensuring legislative compliance and providing expert payroll advice across the organisation.

Whats involved

  • End to end weekly & monthly payroll processing.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner for weekly and monthly employees.
  • Respond to payroll queries and assist with managing the shared People Services inbox.
  • Understanding interpreting and applying awards enterprise agreements and common law contracts.
  • Attend to enquiries within a timely manner ensuring alignment to Austal policies procedures and values.
  • Liaising with staff and management on payroll related matters.
The Opportunity
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated end to end payroll experience and knowledge
  • Ability to effectively communication and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Working understanding of payroll related legislation rules policies regulations agreements (including EBA) awards and other compliance.
