Job Description

The Norcliffe Foundation Center for Integrative Brain Research (NFCIBR) is seeking a Center Business Manager (CBM) to lead the research administration support team for the Center. The CBM applies their expertise in research administration to ensure excellent preaward and postaward support of approximately 77 NFCIBR Center members with an annual portfolio of about $25M in research awards. This Center supports both laboratory/bench science as well as a significant portfolio of clinical trials and studies.

Excellent communication skills and team leadership is an important part of a successful CBM as the position leads a team of 12 FTE including 10 Grant and Contract Administrators and 2 Administrative Assistants. Creating a working environment for staff that is professionally rewarding and supportive of growth is a key function. The CBM role requires interactions with colleagues across Seattle Childrens in the course of their work including the Center Directors faculty members research staff other colleagues that support Seattle Childrens Research Institute business operations as well as our University of Washington colleagues.

In addition to research pre and post award oversight the role includes oversight of the Centers operations and gift budgets and the management of research operations support functions including purchasing laboratory space support personnel management and core service utilization. Financial and research compliance responsibilities are demonstrated through ensuring good practice with preaward proposal development postaward budget management and communication with staff and researchers to support compliance with applicable processes and policies. The ability to analyze data and performance metrics for process improvement is an important skill to ensure team growth and continued excellent performance and process improvements as we seek to achieve annual strategic goals. The CBM is a valued leadership position that supports NFCIBRs research administration and operational work.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in finance accounting business management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum five years related experience which must include administrative/management experience and at least 3 years experience within the grants and contracts arena including pre and postaward activities in all of the following: National Institute of Health and other federal grants private foundation grants and industry contracts.Minimum two years supervisory experience.

Required Credentials

Preferred
Certified Research Administrator or equivalent experience.Experience managing a recharge/core in compliance with federal policies.At least 2 years experience in leading continuous improvement projects.

Compensation Range

$115277.00 $172915.00 per year

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on fulltime employment 2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
