SUMMARY
The Assistant Staff Analyst position will support our facility in conducting detailed analyses and offering recommendations on resource utilization and the improvement of operations and programs across the facility. This position will drive strategic initiatives aimed at increasing clinical productivity improving access and enhancing performance on publicly reported clinical quality metrics. This position requires specific expertise to perform these strategic operational analyses collaborate with all hospital departments and provide recommendations to senior management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leads key process improvement projects related to improving access productivity efficiency and performance on clinical outcome measures.
- Tracks and monitors data on patient access to key specialty services prioritizes areas for intervention and works with relevant departments on improvement plans.
- Supports patient experience improvement projects to improve Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems scores by interfacing with internal hospital teams and external agencies such as Leapfrog and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
- Ensures that programs implemented continue to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of deliverable services after implementation.
- Represents the facility in DHSwide discussions of improvement priorities.
- Analyzes departmental operations and workflows and makes recommendations on improving efficiency productivity and throughput.
- Helps hospital administration set strategic priorities that will improve systemwide efficiency and patient access by providing clear data impact and feasibility analyses.
- Collects and tracks data on productivity in procedural areas including Interventional Radiology Gastrointestinal Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Operating Room and works with local leaders to improve efficiency.
- Works with inpatient and outpatient areas to optimize provider and patient scheduling to balance workload and access.
- Analyzes multiple existing data streams and dashboards under the purview of the Quality Services Team and makes recommendations on strategic priorities for improvement.
- Performs comprehensive analysis of Quality and Safety measures that contribute to hospital ratings.
- Serves as the local expert in data sources and vendors for publicly reported data including Vizient Hospital Quality Improvement Contractor NHSN and patient safety indicator coding workflows.
- Prepares recommendations for prioritization of improvement efforts across 200 metrics tracked by the Quality and Safety Department.
- Prepares written reports and presentations summarizing data analysis and improvement work for use in key departmental and leadership meetings.
- Analyzes the impact and feasibility of improvement efforts across all publicly reported clinical quality measures and internally reported operational efficiency measures and helps local leaders strategize and allocate resources.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
One or more years of highly complex administrative/data related experience in the health research social services or related sector.
Education/Experience
Preference will be given to those with:
(A) Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND One 1 year working in in data cleansing data quality assurance or a related field.; OR (B) One 1 year experience in data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Excel or other data management tools; familiarity with data validation techniques.
Certificates/Licenses/Clearances
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.
- Successful clearing through the Live Scan and the Health Clearance process with the County of Los Angeles.

- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills able to document processes and explain data quality issues to nontechnical stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fastpaced environment.
- Understanding of data privacy and security standards with experience handling sensitive data in compliance with relevant regulations.
