Job Description

The Department of Communication Studies within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor position. We seek a dedicated faculty member with a passion for teaching research and student mentorship committed to creating engaging learning environments and contributing to the advancement of the communication field.

This is a 9month tenuretrack position located on Tarletons main campus in Stephenville Texas. Summer appointment is dependent upon need and funding availability. Work hours: MonFri; 8 AM5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. May be required to teach at other campuses or online at the institutions discretion.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching maintain an impactful research program actively mentor undergraduate and graduate students and contribute to the essential operations of the institution. They should have a research and teaching background in public speaking human communication interactions communication theory communication law and various interpersonal communication contexts. Additionally their research and teaching focus should align with interpersonal communication with interests in areas such as individual and organizational use perception and sensemaking of AI technologies as well as the role of virtual reality (VR) augmented reality (AR) and userexperience design (UX) in strategic and social communication.

This position offers the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations and shape both undergraduate and graduate programs. The candidate will support the departments instructional needs by teaching across different modalities (online facetoface hybrid) and levels with the expectation of developing innovative courses that align with departmental goals.

Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduatelevel instruction; written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities; ability to interact with students staff and faculty in a professional collegial and collaborative manner.

The target base annual salary is $56400 $60000 commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
