Job Description

SUMMARY

This posting is to recruit those interested in working for Gateway Technical Colleges Facilities Department.
Casual Hire positions areparttime/temporary positions that are available to students and outside candidates. These positions provide support to the faculty and staff of Gateway Technical College. Casual hires are under the supervision of the department and/or area that has hired them.


Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager the Facilities Department Casual is responsible for performing custodial and grounds maintenance duties at the Kenosha and Horizon campuses in Kenosha.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Custodial duties and grounds duties. Duties may include but are not limited to cleaning and sanitizing restrooms classrooms and other areas of campus dusting and scrubbing building surfaces and furniture operating associated equipment performing minor repairs painting assembly and grounds work.
  • Ability to work the required hours for the position.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION


REQUIRED SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  1. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format; read understand and follow instructions schedules and chemical & solvent labels.
  2. Ability to access the ticketing system and email.
  3. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet cleaning schedules; perform the physical requirements for the position including climbing ladders bending kneeling reaching and standing for long periods of time; lift and carry boxes tools equipment and materials up tp 30lbs.
  5. The ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment such as carpet extractors highspeed buffers and scrubbers.
  6. The ability to operate a forklift floor jack snow removal equipment and Districtowned vehicle
  7. A high degree of professionalism and customer care.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION


Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available. International Students seeking employment must adhere to the rules of the F1 or M1 visa in order to work on campus.

DIVISION/LOCATION:Kenosha
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week
FLSA: NonExempt
SALARY: $15.00

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Age 16 or older.
  • Employment eligibility for the United States.
  • Gateway does not sponsor employment based visas.
  • International Students:
    1. Must be a current student (enrolled) at Gateway Technical College
    2. Must have a F1 or M1 Visa
    3. Once a job offer has been obtained:
      1. Supervisor will provide details of employment to HR and request an Intent Letter
      2. International Student will obtain a Social Security Number for tax purposes
