About the Organization:
603 Legal Aid is a nonprofit civil legal aid organization dedicated to providing free legal services to lowincome individuals and families. We focus on areas such as housing family law domestic violence veteran rights consumer rights and other critical legal needs to promote access to justice and stability in our community.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a PartTime Contract Attorney to provide highquality legal services to eligible clients in a range of civil legal matters. The attorney will primarily handle veteran clients by providing virtual advice and counsel. This position offers flexible hours and may be in person remote or hybrid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide thorough and accurate telephonic legal advice and counsel to clients.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings motions briefs and other legal documents.
- Collaborate with legal aid staff pro bono attorneys and community partners to enhance client services.
- Participate in legal clinics outreach efforts and training programs as needed.
- Maintain accurate case records and comply with grant and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active and goodstanding membership with the NH Bar (and any other jurisdiction in which the attorney has or has had a membership).
- Experience in civil legal aid poverty law or relevant practice areas preferred.
- Commitment to serving lowincome and marginalized communities.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible parttime caseload.
- Sound professional judgment.
- Excellent critical thinking and evaluation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication competency with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of technology and the accurate collection and reporting of data.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate an appropriate manner and sensitivity in dealing with clients and applicants.
- Must be able to work in a collaborative manner with distinct groups including internal and external stakeholders government agencies funders and other advocacy and community organizations.
- Must have ability to develop and implement innovative models of service delivery with limited resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Language proficiency other than English is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with legal aid case management systems such as LegalServer and remote work tools.
- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint).
Compensation & Benefits
This is a parttime 1099 contract position for up to 22.5 hoursper week pay commensurate with experience. You must be authorized to work in the United States.
