Job Description

General Summary:

  • Directs the activities of the Admissions Office to include intake and referrals to inpatient services of the Towson and Baltimore Washington hospital locations and Towson campus urgent assessment services.
  • Supervises leadership of the following areas: Admissions Intake Psychiatric Urgent Care.
  • Monitors and reports trends and issues that impact admissions and patient days.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with area acute care hospitals to facilitate admissions and transfers.
  • Manages department budget and supervises assigned staff.
  • Assesses opportunities to build relationships with outside hospitals.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Work requires a professional knowledge of psychological and psychiatric illnesses and treatment modalities and program management acquired through one of the following combinations of experience and education;

    • Masters degree plus 3 years postMasters experience or;

    • Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant postdegree experience.

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of and experience with: human resource management; department leadership; clinical assessment and triage medical and mental healthrelated community services; Microsoft Office applications; electronic patient registration and billing systems; electronic medical record systems; managed behavioral health care issues and insurance requirements/constraints.
  • Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with patients families internal staff and outside agency personnel in providing evaluations referrals and in gathering and exchanging patient information; to manage staff; to communicate health system services to a variety of referrers and the general public.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to years and level of related experience.
