Geisinger is a seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wound Care Specialist to join our team in Danville Pennsylvania. As an integral member of our orthopedic department you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive wound care to patients with complex limb conditions and diabetic footrelated problems.Job Duties:
At a Glance:
- You would be joining a team of three other Wound Care providers.
- Mix of inpatient and outpatient care.
- Minimal Call Coverage.
- No Weekend Coverage
Job Competencies:
- Competences in the following: wound debridement biopsies cultures incision and drainage. Use of bioengineered skin substitutes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including endocrinologists podiatrists vascular plastic and orthopaedic surgeons and infectious disease specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patients unique needs. Ensure seamless coordination of care among healthcare professionals involved in the patients treatment journey.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families explaining diagnoses treatment options risks and benefits in a compassionate and understandable manner. Provide guidance on postoperative care rehabilitation protocols and preventive measures to minimize complications and optimize outcomes.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in wound care including but not limited to diabetic foot ulcers pressure ulcers venous leg ulcers and arterial ulcers. Actively participate in research initiatives clinical trials and professional conferences to contribute to medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records documenting medical history surgical procedures and treatment plans. Adhere to institutional and legal guidelines concerning patient privacy and data security.
- Pursue ongoing education and training opportunities to stay updated with emerging trends in wound care and maintain professional certifications and licenses.

Board certification in Wound Care is required for this position and must be accomplished within two 2 years of either the date of hire.
