Job Description
Job Location: Burlington MA or Darmstadt Germany
An exciting new role has opened in the Life Science Controlling Finance Systems team and will bepart of agrowing network of Data Analytics experts throughout the company. In this roleyou will help shape the future of how we operate by driving new insights speed scalability and repeatability into our processes. To get there you will need a data and system centric approach on processes that today rely heavily on MS Excel. Your day to day will include:
- Identify processes that take too long to perform manually in Excel and determine if these can be scaled more effectively in a system environment.
- Identify & harmonize similar analytical processes that are done in parallel by different teams.
- Identify areas that have not been analyzed in a repeated way but would have value in understand trends.
- Perform business case analysis to target & prioritize projects.
This position will be project based and may work across multiple smaller projects or a single large project utilizing an agile project methodology. Projects will require deep understanding of the underlying problem(s) and modelling new processes/data structures which can be done with the guidance of the proper technical experts. You will be responsible to develop hypotheses on how to improve; you will then subsequently test these hypotheses with small scale implementations. You will then select the successful ideas and scale accordingly.
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical skills:
- 5 years of experience as a key participant in system engineeringorsoftware development
- 3 years experience in data modeling
- Familiarity in engineering with experience in ETL type work with databases (e.g. JDBC mySQL Microsoft SQL) and Hadoop platforms. Not all types required.
- Proficiency in SQL / Java / Python (Python required; all 3 not necessary)
- Content: Familiarity with financially relevant business processes (reporting business case simulation & analysis forecasting commercial analytics)
- Experience applying process improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma Agile etc.
- Excellent communication skills (listening writing verbal); Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Finance Engineering Mathematics Physical Sciences or related fields
- Passionate about business process design change management and data led decision making
