POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Madonna University Position: Forensic Biology Job Status: Fulltime College/School: Arts and Sciences Department: Department of Forensic Science Reports To: Chair MADONNA UNIVERSITY is a Franciscan Catholic coeducational liberal arts university located in Livonia Michigan a western suburb of the metropolitan Detroit area which operates within a multiyear contract system with no tenure requirement. The growing student body of over 2000 is an exciting and diverse mix of traditional and nontraditional commuter students representing all ages and ethnicities of Southeastern Michigan. The undergraduate Forensic Science Program serves approximately 120 students in the only FEPAC accredited undergraduate program in the state of Michigan and has an active research program through the Madonna University Forensic Science Research Facility. Responsibilities: The primary focus is on teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Course assignments may include any courses related to the candidates specialty and general topic/survey courses. Candidates able to teach Forensic Biology Forensic DNA Typing Forensic Microscopy Forensic Pattern Matching General Biology Genetics Population Genetics Molecular Biology or Research Methods courses are preferred. Other instructional duties may include teaching introductory or advanced and graduate level courses in biology and Forensic Science disciplinespecific courses. The faculty member will be expected to contribute to independent studies and research projects as a direct mentor and serve on Departmental College and/or University committees as necessary. The individual will support the ongoing development of the Forensic Science Program by contributing to curriculum development student advising and instruction through a studentcentered philosophy of science education. Experience with FEPAC accreditation is highly valued.
Education Qualifications and Experience: MS in an appropriate scientific discipline and a record of successful university teaching. PhD is preferred. Experience as a forensic scientist in a crime laboratory is considered an asset. Postdoctoral research or experience as an academic forensic scientist is also highly valued. Administration experience is a plus but not necessary.
