Class Summary


This is a parttime position with a maximum of 1508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays leave or benefits.

Job Description
This Bilingual Agricultural & Natural Resources Clerk will be responsible for communicating clearly and concisely (oral and written in English and Spanish) with program participants community groups the public and staff. The individual will also be responding to basic homeowner gardening inquiries (walkins email and phone) while triaging more complicated questions to a higher level of expertise (agent and/or program assistant). The incumbent must display exemplary oral and written communication to internal and external customers.

Essential Duties
  • Providing educational assistance to customers (walkins) needing guidance on how to properly submit soil and water test samples for lab analysis; assist with processing mailing soil lab result retrieval
  • Preparing educational handouts and assembling supplies for classes programs and events
  • Assisting with registering class participants (virtual or inperson)
  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of activity kits for handson learning labs
  • Collecting program evaluations
  • Providing handson training to Master Gardener Extension Volunteers on how to report their volunteer hours in MG Log database
  • Communicating the objectives and activities of the program
Public Speaking Duties
  • Assist with fundraising events such as Gwinnett Extensions annual plant sale
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement a public relations agenda to promote student enrollment
  • Must be able to speak effectively at events tours presentations programs etc.
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job may require after hours weekends and/or holidays.
Hourly rate
Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED and
  • One year of horticulture experience requirement
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Georgia Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Associate degree in horticulture plant and soil science or a related field. AND
  • Two years in horticulture plant and soil science or equivalent combination of education and experience
