FUNCTION:
Lunch Supervisors in elementary schools have many tasks that they must execute to ensure that the day moves along smoothly for everyone. Lunchroom supervisors oversee meal service for elementary school students. Duties record and maintain proper meal temperatures distribute meals and milk to students according to district and government regulations supervise students as directed by the school principal deposit of student payments and scanning of tickets or Ids reconciliation cash run end of day reports for participation and deposits general housekeeping duties such as cleaning school kitchen/serving area and cleaning lunch tables.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED program.
- Must be able to relate to and enjoy being around children.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with a wide variety of people.
- Must be able to demonstrate fundamental math skills.
- Must be able to physically perform all duties associated with the position.
- Moderate lifting bending and prolonged periods of standing and circulating are required.
- Fluent in Reading Writing and Speaking English.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the school Principal /or Assistant Principal assist children during lunch by opening their milk snacks juices or lunches. Younger children may need some help opening packaged condiments like ketchup mustard relish syrup and mayonnaise. Children might need help opening fruit such as bananas or oranges.
- You should make sure to wear your gloves when handling food.
- Children will also come up to you to ask if they can use the restroom and in some cases they might not feel well and will ask to go to the nurse.
- On days when children eat lunch in the classroom you will have to serve and help the children with their lunch.
- As directed deposit student money scan lunch tickets or IDs count cash and run endoftheday reports for participation and deposit.
- Ensures the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
- Take note of allergies. As a lunch supervisor it is important to know which kids in your class have allergies and what those allergies are. Some schools equip aides with allergy information medicine and information about the child.
- Make sure students are properly seated so that they do not harm themselves or fool around and choke on their food. Make sure students chatter is kept at a decent level. It is important that the noise level remains at a decent level.
- Look out for misbehavior. Kids will be kids and they will misbehave when given the chance. It is important that you watch all children and make sure that they are not touching each other pulling on each other or horseplaying. You might have to separate some students if they have a problem keeping calm. You want to make sure that they are not playing with their food or getting out of their seat.
- Inform the principal or designee of any misbehaved students and notify the principal immediately in the event of medical problems and injuries.
- Maintain cleanliness of milk coolers and heating cabinets weekly. Record and maintain proper meal temperatures. Wipe the tables down so that they are ready for the next class.
- Line students up in a nice orderly quiet line and take them to recess. You have to make sure that children are in a neat line and are quiet as they are in the halls. It is important that children are not fooling around or running and jumping in the hallway.
- You might have to watch the children at recess.
- When the students are at recess you have to make sure that they are safe and that they keep their hands to themselves.
- Make sure that students are not playing too roughly or that they are not in harms way.
- You will have to line the kids up walk them back to the building and make sure they are quiet. The teacher might not be there so you will have to wait with them until their teacher arrives.
- Any other duties responsibilities or projects as directed by the Principal /or Food Service Coordinator.
