How you get to help us do that in this role
As a Diesel Mechanic you will be responsible and held accountable for maintaining diagnosing and repairing issues with companywide fleet and equipment.
What youll do
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company wide fleet and equipment. Typical repairs and maintenance would include working on engines (Gas & Diesel) transmissions chassis drivelines and body components hydraulic systems brakes electrical and suspension systems wheels tires and undercarriages.
- Routine Maintenance and repair locations may vary work may be required to be performed in the field and or in the shop depending on the circumstances.
- Read and interpret work orders and inspection sheets communicate with supervisor for clarification of defects and discuss proper repair techniques to help minimize future issues.
- Responsible for completing daily work order forms via computer and/or paper format.
- Responsible for helping keep track of shop inventory and parts ordering.
- Use diagnostics and repair tools as necessary.
- Ensurea safe organized and tidy workspace at all times.
- Adhereto all safety regulations including company policies State and Federal DOT regulations.
- Respectful professional and able to work as a team alongside other technicians and supervisors.
- Must have previous heavy Diesel Mechanic experience.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- State appointed Diesel Mechanic License and/ or other applicable Certifications are preferred.
- Possession of a valid Class A CDL license with a clean and safe driving record.
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen.
- Must be able to have a flexible work schedule with flexible hours hours will vary but at a minimum 40 hours a week will be required.
- Must have a complete set of hand tools and proficient in all repairs.
- Indepth knowledge and understanding of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms along with both Over the Road and Heavy Construction related equipment.
- Must be able to perform tasks which may include heavy physical labor such as lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Ability to stand sit walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be comfortable working within tight deadlines and in stressful environments.
- Also must be comfortable working within all weather conditions including traveling to and from jobsites.
- Balance While many heavy civil contractors work their teams 7080 hours per week we average 4050 hours per week and very rarely work weekends.
