Position Summary
The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Excellence AVPAE will report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and provide dynamic and engaged leadership in working closely with the faculty staff students and other key internal and external stakeholders. The AVPAE will play a key role with the academic leadership in developing and implementing a new academic master plan. The AVP will lead the multicampus universitywide assessment process and the advancement of a culture that values high quality studentcentered education at a polytechnic institution and effective strategic visioning and planning. The primary responsibility for the AVP for Academic Excellence is to assist the provost and vice provost in providing leadership in promoting and safeguarding quality assurance and quality improvement policies and processes for all undergraduate and graduate degree and nondegree programs of the University. Under the general direction of the provost the AVPAE will manage the universitys academic program review processes and schedules as well as assisting the Vice Provost (Accreditation Liaison Officer) in planning organizing and managing university accreditation processes and procedures ensuring achievement of institutional student learning outcomes. The position will also act as liaison with faculty senate faculty committees college deans and the faculty for approvals of new academic program development and curricular updates. The AVPAE is expected to provide strong and dynamic leadership to the universitys effort to promote and safeguard academic excellence. The AVPAE will ensure an active and comprehensive plan of ongoing program reviews and assessment for all undergraduate and graduate degree and nondegree programs including online programs across the university. The level of assessment will align with the needs of each type of program. Through this effort the AVP will ensure that all university academic programs adhere to the highest standards of quality to provide excellent teaching and learning outcomes for Oregon Techs students. The AVPAE will also provide leadership in pedagogy training and enhancement both for in person and online education with a focus on student success inclusive learning environments and closing achievement gaps. The AVPAE will oversee areas of excellence such as the honors program and develop a prestigious scholarship program. Other areas of responsibility will include working collaboratively with the Deans Registrar online education and academic departments to develop a seamless transfer of courses for students to establish standards for awarding credit for prior work experience to enhance the integration of online education with oncampus offerings and nurture a culture of student success.
Preferred Qualifications
Possession of an earned doctorate and eligibility for senior faculty appointment within one of the colleges in the University Experience with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities accreditation process Experience in and commitment to working with diverse faculty staff and students Experience with and a commitment to a polytechnic education Experience in academic strategic planning Experience with honors programs and prestigious scholarships
