Job Description
Our client a leading Food Technology Company is seeking a R & D Director.
This is a fast growing company and is an exciting career opportunity!
The Director of R&D will be reporting to the VP of R&D (BU: External Services). This position is located in the San Francisco area.
You will be responsible for
own the product development process and be the guardian for the advancement to each development phase
be the subject matter expert for all product development ventures with 3rd party partners
work side by side with all the company functions in order to drive the top line the efficiencies as well as uniquity of all products
work with suppliers comanufacturing partners and customers on the development of all product propositions
ensure product superiority status across our competitors in the spaces where we operate
be the subject matter expert for R&D NORAM and the balance of the geographies where they operate and/or has partnerships
be responsible for attracting developing and retaining talent for the R&D BU team
be accountable on working side by side with the machine learning team and the research team on all product development on improvement projects
Key Qualifications
10 or more years of progressive R&D experience in plantbased food products including successful of plantbased food products
Bachelors degree in food engineering food science or a similar discipline; Masters degree or MBA a plus
experience in working with ingredient suppliers and comanufacturers
- possess experience working in a consumer food company start up experience preferred
- excel in a startup environment and is excited to create new procedures and processes from scratch and has a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
- be a problem solver have a general manager mindset and take the initiative to get the job done
- have strong negotiation presentation and relationship building skills.
- have excellent presentation and influencing skills
- possess strong planning project management and skills and the ability to articulate where and how you have used them
- rigorous data driven/analytical capability and ability and presence to present data effectively to a leadership team
- demonstrated leadership ability work well in teams and cross functional groups in a matrixed environment both regionally and globally
- be agile adaptable and thrive in a dynamic and changing culture
- possess strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency in MS Office specifically Excel
- ability to travel at least 30 of the time
