HOURLY SALARY RANGE:Minimum $16.84 Midpoint $21.05 Maximum $25.26
Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision perform skilled work in construction alteration repair and installation of fixtures buildings and structures. Maintain district structures and furniture in attractive and safe condition.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas drivers license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of equipment materials methods practices and tools used in carpentry
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations
Ability to work independently
Experience:
One year experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; clear driving record
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Build repair and install counters cabinets benches partitions floors doors building framework and trim.
- Install glass in windows doors and partitions.
- Replace damaged ceiling tile floor tile and wall coverings.
- Build cabinets and other wooden equipment in carpenter shop.
- Install items such as window shades blinds curtain rods wall fans and doors locks for tenants.
- Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
- Fabricate repair and replace doors windows floors ceiling glass hardware screens plastic laminate etc.
- Construct and repair outdoor equipment including playground equipment fences gates bleachers etc.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings grounds and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
- Replace repair and finish furniture cabinets fixtures woodwork etc.
- Assist in installing and moving portable buildings including constructing steps and installing underpinning.
- Install repair rebuild and service mechanical or electric locking devices.
- Cut new or duplicate keys.
- Receive and complete work orders.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
- Work irregular hours and respond to emergencies after hours as needed.

- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.

- Communicate with building principal and supervisors to complete projects.
- Articulate the districts mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Power saw planer drill press sander band saw table saw radial arm saw nail gun air compressor other power equipment measuring devices and light truck or van.
- Posture: Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and tight and enclosed spaces
