You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailPosition Summary: As a Team Lead you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shelter providing leadership and support to shelter staff and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants who may be struggling with homelessness substance misuse chronic health conditions and mental health. Service delivery is based on a participantcentered traumainformed and nonjudgmental perspective.

Specific Responsibilities:
Support staff to ensure highquality service delivery and adherence to ASK Wellness Society policies.
Manage daily shelter operations including intakes bed access and flow processes participant services pet registry and facility maintenance to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Provide crisis intervention and staff support in response to escalated behaviours medical incidents etc. and ensure completion of incident reports.
Complete regular wellness checks.
Engage with residents to assess their needs facilitate access to resources and promote participation in the shelter program.
Work closely with identified community resources and multidisciplinary teams to best support each participant
Monitor and move along community members who are loitering in and around the property.
Process and maintain accuracy in pet identification and make recommendations when necessary regarding pet health and behavior.
Assist in meal service clean up as required
Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the building (may include biohazard clean up)
Maintain accurate and uptodate communication/case notes and participant background information.
Maintain files and statistics as per accreditation standards.
When requested be a member of the Societys Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) team.
Ensure compliance with all Society policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor of Social Work Human Services Psychology Support Worker/Care Aid Certificate or an equivalent combination of education previous work experience and/or lived experience.
Knowledge of the BC Housingmandated Vulnerability Assessment Tool (VAT) is considered an asset.
Strong ability to recognize and address difficult behaviors.
Some aspects of the job require physical abilities such as standing sitting walking bending and reaching with hands
Good communication documentation interpersonal and conflict management skills.
Ability to work within a teambased environment involving multiagency support.
Strong working knowledge of community resources.
Understands and maintains professional boundaries.
Must pass an acceptable criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
Basic First Aid is required.
WHIMIS is required
Readiness to complete mandatory inhouse online training within the first month of employment.
Mental Health First Aid ASIST and Trauma Informed Practice is considered an asset.
