Who we are: Directions for Youth & Families offers communitybased mental health and prevention services that utilize a resiliencyoriented and traumainformed framework. DFYFs programs are divided into 3 categories: Treatment Prevention and Education. DFYF offers specialized mental health kindergarten readiness afterschool and summer programming to meet the diverse needs of our youth and family population. DFYF proudly serves over 63000 youth adults and families each year. All of our programs strive to fulfill our mission to build and inspire hope healing and resilience for youth families and communities through counseling and education. Position overview: Directions for Youth and Families is looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to be a part of our Afterschool and Summer Program and fill the position of parttime Prevention Specialist. Responsibilities include the implementing and overseeing the structured social emotional learning activities within our program. Social emotional activities include overseeing activities that teach Life Skills healthy expression selfregulation and engaging youth in community servicelearning projects. The position allows for group facilitation that inspire youth learning in fun creative and engaging ways.The ideal candidate should feel comfortable working with youth between the ages of 818 years old facilitating groups ability to multitask meet deadlines and possess ability to engage youth. Afterschool program operates MondayFriday 3pm to 8pm and Summer program operates MondayFriday 9am 3pm. Team meetings and occasional special events may require changes to schedule. Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred or specialized training Experience working with youth and facilitating educational lessons required Strong engagement and communication skills Basic computer & documentation skills Valid Drivers license auto insurance and reliable transportation
