Overview

Faculty Pediatric Hospitalist

NORTH CAROLINA Pediatric Faculty Position.ThePediatric Teaching ProgramatCone Health a community teaching hospital in Greensboro NC affiliated with the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill seeks a fulltime hospitalist to join its faculty of 10 physicians.

The role is that of clinicianeducator to residents and students in three clinical venues: a wellbaby nursery caring for term and late preterm babies with over 6000 deliveries per year an 18bed pediatric ward with over 2000 admissions each year and resident acute care clinic. Call coverage is approximately once in 7 nights. Other responsibilities include didactic teaching mentoring and quality improvement projects.There are no delivery responsibilities. Our decadeslong partnership with UNC includes a Primary Care Residency based in Greensboro UNC Categorical residents 3rdand 4thyear UNC medical students and Hospital Medicine Fellows.

The teaching service is supported by inhouse neonatologists who staff a 45bed NICU in a stateoftheartWomens and Childrens Hospital pediatric intensive care physicians who staff a 4bed PICU pediatric subspecialists and an ambulatory clinic that serves as the home site for the UNC Pediatric Primary Care Residency. Both the inpatient ward and newborn nursery are supported by nurse practitioners.

The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics or Med/Peds possess outstanding clinical skills and teaching expertise and have at least 2 years of experience at the attending level. Board certification in pediatric hospital medicine is not required.Applicants are eligible for a faculty appointment at the UNC School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics at the assistant or associate professor level. There are opportunities for clinical QI and administrative leadership roles.

About the area.The Greensboro urban area is the 3rdlargest in North Carolina with a population of 300000 people and a regional population of approximately 1 million.Greensboro offers excellent schools along with numerous parks multicultural and sporting events including the recently opened Tanger Center for Performing Arts and much more.This familyfriendly city is also one of the most diverse midsize cities in America.For weekend getaways Greensboro is within easy driving distance to the Blue Ridge Mountains the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area as well as the pristine beaches of NC SC and VA.

Responsibilities


Teaching and Education
Provision of educational conferences for residents faculty students and teams to include Grand Rounds Journal Clubs Noon Conferences Medical Student Lectures Clinical Improvement Conferences Board Review sessions and others as assigned. Mentoring of medical students APP students and residents. Provide clinical supervision to students and residents on rotations as assigned.

Clinical
Provide patient care to patients in various clinical areas as assigned.

Scholarly Work and Research
Faculty should encourage and support residents in scholarly activities including abstract submission poster presentation oral presentation and case report publication. The faculty must establish and maintain an environment of inquiry and scholarship with an active research component. This may include collaboration and participation in approved research projects.

Administrative
Participate in required or assigned committee work including THN CHMG Graduate Medical Education Medical Staff or others. Developing in collaboration with leadership new rotation or education experiences for students and residents.

Institutional Citizenship
Work as a part of the larger team to improve access reduce cost improve quality and promote efficiency and better health outcomes. This may include engagement in community outreach and to attend professional events to assist with program development and building professional relationships. In addition attention to timely and complete documentation patient satisfaction and referring physician satisfaction are needed by each faculty member.

AHEC
Participate in AHEC projects as requested that meet the mission of the NC AHEC Program.
