Pay Range: $17.11/hr. $21.31hr. $37440 $44326 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Parttime position 29 hours; the number of hours will fluctuate depending on Department needs but cannot exceed an average of 29 hours.Nights and weekends are common with some holidays.

A PartTime Office Assistant job is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department Code Blue Unit. This position will contribute to the Citys strategic goals mission and vision by providing professional support to both general employees and sworn police officers at all levels.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED certification.
  • Two 2 years of responsible clerical experience.
  • Must pass Drug Screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher levels of education and clerical experience as it relates to the vacancy;
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word Outlook Excel (A successful candidate will have intermediate level proficiency in Excel);
  • Extensive telephone and public contact customer service skills;
  • Experience in PeopleSoft or a similar human resources system.

The Office Assistant job responsibilities include:

  • Collecting processing and distributing correspondence and other materials within the department;
  • Filing documents and reports in an organized manner according to department specifications; organizing filing and retrieving departmental or divisional records;
  • Assists with special department events.
  • Engage with the community educate citizens about the Code Blue Program
  • Must drive personal vehicle to multiple worksite
  • Payroll type monitoring of volunteered hours including creating and maintaining various
  • Spreadsheets (Volunteers hours)
  • Work with uniformed police officers daily
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to adapt to a change environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Coordinate volunteer activities including
    • crime scene grid searches (may see body parts and other evidence)
    • assist with training (includes firearm and recruit training)
    • maintaining time logs of volunteer hours

Organize events

    • preparation of food
    • setting up and clean up
    • training
    • recruitment

Working Conditions

Final candidates selected for hire in thePolice Departmentwill be subject to a fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination.Applicants must not have used during the previous two 2 years nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten 10 years.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprintbased background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions Felony Deferred Adjudication Class A Misdemeanor Conviction Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor) and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Physical Demands

Light Work Depending on assignment positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated Light Work
