Since 1970 CLAREMATRIX has provided quality substance use and mental health treatment to men women and youth in southern California.Through programs run by a compassionate committed resultsoriented team of counselors therapists and administrators CLAREMATRIX continues to build its reputation as a leader in evidencebased treatment practices and continues to break new ground in the areas of positive outcomes outreach and community involvement.Headquartered in Santa Monica CA CLAREMATRIX maintains multiple facilities in the Southern California region providing services to participants in a manner consistent with its Core Values: Compassion Teamwork Integrity Empowerment Adaptability and Equality.

The following is representative of the duties responsibilities and requirements of the job but is not intended to be an exhaustive list.

Summary:

Under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional with minimum latitude for independent judgement and decision the Medical Assistant provides critical support to the clinical team and treatment team by assisting in the care of participants in a 24hour residential rehab and recovery setting. The Medical Assistant will work to ensure that participant care is administered safely and effectively as part of the treatment program adhering strictly to all legal and regulatory requirements.

EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities:

  1. Participant Interaction: Greets participants and verifies participant information by interviewing participant and recording medical history. Takes participants vitals.
  2. HIPAA Compliance: Secures participant information and maintains strict participant confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and ensuring participant information is kept confidential.
  3. Medication Administration: Follow companys medication policy for safely and accuracy to administer medications to participants as prescribed following all regulations and protocols.
  4. Documentation: Utilizing the EHR MyEvolv properly and correctly document all care notes and administration accurately and promptly in the participants medical record maintaining compliance with municipal state and federal regulations and maintaining accurate and complete proper documentation for all participant encounters.
  5. Participant Monitoring: Observe participants for changes in condition including but not limited to adverse reactions to medications. May take vitals and COWS/CIWA as assigned. Observes signs of behavioral health crises reporting findings to the nursing or clinical team.
  6. Medication Inventory Management: May monitor medication stock levels medication inventory organize medication storage and report low stock or discrepancies to supervisors.
  7. Medication Refills: May monitor medication levels and place orders for refills as required.
  8. Communication: Collaborate with nurses therapists and other healthcare providers to communicate participant changes needs updates and progress. Respond to staff and participants in a professional and courteous manner.
  9. Safety and Emergencies: Follow all safety rules regulations and infection control procedures ensuring a clean safe and supportive environment for participants. Respond appropriately to emergencies including following policy and procedure for contacting appropriate staff and supervisor(s) professionally and calmly interacting with police fire and medical personnel.
  10. Professional Behavior Strictly maintain professional boundaries following established limits and guidelines for appropriate behavior with participants ensuring a safe and ethical environment by clearly separating the professional role from personal interactions and protecting the clients privacy and dignity. Boundaries typically include parameters like personal disclosure limits physical touch restrictions and clear communication about the professional nature of the relationship.
  11. Education and Training: Participate in ongoing training team meetings and certifications to maintain eligibility for the role current knowledge in medication administration and best practices for a rehab and recovery setting.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  1. Collaborate with crossfunctional and multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to Department Heads Counselors therapists case managers and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive participant care.
  2. Participate in staff meetings oneonone meetings with supervisor(s) and other meetings as required.
  3. Participate in inservice training and continuing education to maintain eligibility for the role. Maximize learning opportunities by remaining receptive to constructive feedback and utilizing support available from your supervisor and others.

  5. Contributeto ahealthyworkenvironment by cultivating and maintaining appropriate boundaries and a professional demeanor at all times.

  9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Must have a diploma from an accredited school or college with the designation of Medical Assistant or be State Board Certified as a Medical Assistant.
  2. If applicable you must have achieved sobriety of at least one year.
  3. Must have current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days from hire date.
  4. Must complete all preemployment requirements including a Livescan and physical prior to hire date.
  5. Must complete all Learning Management System LMS assignments by 30 days of employment.
  6. Must have reliable transportation possess and maintain a valid California Drivers License with proof of valid automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record.

KnowledgeExperienceandSkills:

  1. Experience in a rehabilitation or recovery center setting preferred. Experience in a behavioral health setting is also appropriate.
  2. Appropriate sensitivity genuine compassion and empathy to workwellwithdiversepopulations.
  3. Working knowledge and understanding of the clinical environment.
  4. Selfstarter with the ability to independently drive projects forward prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  5. The ability to think outside the box look for opportunities see the big picture problem solve and be flexible and adaptable.
  6. Sound judgement and discernment.
  7. Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills including social and presentation skills.
  8. A commitment to and a passion for the mission vision and values of CLAREMATRIX.
  9. Effective computer skills especially Microsoft Office Suite.
