Job Description
A fulltime Research Engineer position is available at the Athinoula A. Martinos center for Biomedical Imaging Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). We are seeking an experienced software engineer to work together with us in implementing advanced imaging sequences for neuroimaging. The position involves implementing imaging sequences in C programming language within the Siemens IDEA environment to be executed on the MRI console. The Martinos center currently operates 10 Siemens consoles including 2 PET/MRI systems and a small bore mouse microscope spanning a number of different software versions. We maintain a portfolio of about 50 novel or custom pulse sequences and their development and maintenance will be a key responsibility of the successful applicant.This position provides a valuable opportunity to work with leading researchers at the center to enable important emerging MRI technologies to be robustly implemented; creating a path for them to be use routinely for neuroscientific and clinical applications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform the development and implementation of new pulse sequences and associated image reconstruction software on the Siemens IDEA/ICE platform.
- Modify and expand existing pulse sequences.
- Perform unit testing and function testing of said pulse sequences and identify and mend errors that become apparent.
- Generate documentation for new pulse sequences and communicate with users both for training in the use of the new pulse sequence and evaluation of concerns brought forward by users.
- Independently develop sequence projects based on current literature MATLAB code provided by other Martinos researchers as well as proof of concept schemes provided by other researchers.
- Maintain a version control system (CVS/git) of all of the pulse sequence software maintained by the Athinoula A. Martinos center core group.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- The ideal candidates would have significant experience with programming in C and knowledge of MR physics and signal/image processing. It is expected that the candidate has had experience with the Siemens IDEA environment.
- Experience with the MATLAB programming environment is desired.
- The ideal candidate would have prior experience with sequence design development and implementation and is familiarity with MRI acquisition concepts.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors required Masters Degree strongly preferred
Field of Study: Electrical engineering computer science biomedical engineering or related studies is required
