Position overview:

The Geotechnology practice is looking for an associate to join the team. The daytoday work will involve producing research reports newsletters presentations and other deliverables for an array of private sector clients. In this role you will work closely with other members of the Geotechnology practice and other sector country and crossfunctional Eurasia Group experts.

This role would suit an early career professional with up to three years of experience in the private sector a prominent think tank or a government role working on technology policy issues. This position is based in Eurasia Groups Washington DC office but we are also willing to consider exceptional candidates based in New York and London.

Although we cover technology policy globally we have a preference for candidates who are proficient in Mandarin and have some knowledge of Chinas science and technology landscape.

More specifically in this role you will:

  • Develop original research and insight into technology policy and related geopolitical trends. Topics you might be asked to dig into in a given week include policies related to data protection 5G networks semiconductors artificial intelligence quantum computing techrelated investment restrictions and export controls internet platform regulation cybersecurity and supply chain security issues competition policy and cryptocurrency regulation among others.
  • Turn research into written analytical content and products including research notes emails bespoke reports newsletters and other deliverables.
  • Assist in the design and development of new research products and analytical tools such as policy trackers informational graphics and explainers on new topics and themes meriting deeper coverage.
  • Ensure that published research is analytically rigorous accurate and delivered on time.
  • Perform original and deskbased research weigh the credibility of competing and sometimes contradictory sources of information and connect the dots.
  • Although this role does not include direct clientfacing responsibilities there will be opportunities for successful candidates to take on clientfacing responsibilities over time.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Practice Head.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field. Masters degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a major European language and EU technology policy would also be an advantage.
  • Ability to perform in a fastpaced and very demanding work.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit intellectual rigor and strong discipline.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English.
  • Selfstarter with exceptional writing skills interested in digging into the details of global tech policy.
  • Ability to write clear concise and analytically rigorous prose is essential.
