Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required MBA and/or CPA preferred.
10 to 20 years progressive experience in Finance/Accounting.
Minimum 7 to 15 years in Healthcare finance experience in Massachusetts environment preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of accounting budget and financial analysis principles and theory.

General Overview:
The Brigham and Womens HealthCare (BWHC) VP Finance and Controller is responsible for the broad administration and direction of the financial processes of all eight BWHC entities from a policy and control perspective. The VP Finance will lead all financial planning and will support Operations and Research in all entities across the family with technical expertise excellent service and process improvement and will facilitate accurate internal external and board financial reporting. The position also serves as the Finance lead and functional site CFO for the Brigham and Womens Faulkner Hospital campus. The position will ensure overall knowledge understanding and adherence to corporate guidelines and performance standards while facilitating teambuilding and interdependence among the BWHC entities as well as across the Partners HealthCare System.
Brigham and Womens HealthCare entities have revenue of approximately $3 billion dollars and assets exceeding $3 billion dollars. It is an integrated healthcare delivery system including a 800 bed teaching hospital with extensive research activities medical education a 150 bed community hospital a physician organization and a regional service organization including primary care sites and ambulatory care centers.
Responsibilities:
1.Financial Control and Direction
Understand and have the ability to translate business and operational decisions into accounting processes.
Broad direction of financial controls corporate guidelines and performance standards for all entities including all accounting budget and revenue focused activities.
Ensure the monthly and annual close processes produce financial statements reflective of the Familys operations and underlying assets and liabilities. Direct year end audit with auditors
Lead regulatory compliance tax insurance fundraising loans rental income malpractice issues.
Big picture but hands on to attain a comprehensive understanding of financial activities.
2.Operations Support and Leadership
Active member of BWHC Senior Leadership team as member of BWHC Operations Group BWHC Financial Management Group Leadership Council BMG and BRISC.
Ensure excellent customer service levels from local and central finance departments.
Facilitate education and training regarding financial processes.
Support multientity business decisions from a financial perspective.
Lead financial relationships with business partners including Dana Farber all Longwood Hospitals South Shore Hospital Harvard Medical School Other Network entities.
3.Site lead for Brigham and Womens Faulkner Hospital (BWFH)
Manage all day to day financial operations for BWFH under the direction of BWHC CFO and BWFH President including BWFH finance team personnel management.
Complete accountability for financial performance management of BWFH including building a credible plan reporting and analytics management reporting and accountability and achievement of plan; leads various multiyear revenue and cost reduction initiatives for the BWFH team.
Key member of the BWFH senior leadership team along with the President CMO CNO and 2 clinical VPs.
Establishes excellent collaboration and working relationships with BWFH Department Chiefs and Directors and provides routine financial updates and education for Leadership Council.
Serves as campus pointofcontact and liaison for local Directors of HIS Patient Access Services and Revenue Cycle Management (who currently report to BWHC Directors under the BWHC VP Finance & Revenue Cycle) to ensure their work is well coordinated with local operations as well as BWHC & PHS initiatives.
Coleads capital planning efforts with BWFH President and serves as key member of the BWFH Space Committee.
4.Business Continuity among BW/F entities and with Partners System
Ensure coordinated financial operation of BWH BWFH BWPO BWPO R&Es DFJV PCC.
Lead management and accounting of affiliates BWHC BRI BRF.
Maximize the benefits provided by Partners System and its centralized financial departments.
Ensure continuity of financial services provided by Accounting Materials Management/Purchasing Accounts Payable Payroll Cashiers Office Development Budget Revenue and Patient Accounting Nonpatient Billing Treasury/Cash Management Reimbursement and Cost Accounting. Internal Audit Tax Accounting
Provide expertise for policy development and crossinstitutional issue resolution at the Partners level.
Promote mutual interdependence and teamwork between local BWHC finance and Partners central finance.
5.Financial Reporting Planning and Management
Manage the Balance Sheet Cash Flows and Changes in Net Assets of the BWHC family institutions to ensure the protection and fair statement of assets as well as reserve propriety. Lead Receivables and reserves management.
Ensure the budget and revenue processes produce a realistic and attainable financial plan.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external and Board of Directors reporting requirements.
Direct the capital planning accounting and reporting processes. Lead financial analysis of all capital projects.
Direct multiyear planning for P&L B/S Cash Flows Capital Investment and Financial Framework.
Plan and coordinate financial reporting analysis and project updates for BWHC Finance Committee.
6.Research and Special Fund Support
Ensure the adequacy of internal controls supporting research and special funds including deficit management and reserve analysis.
Increase understanding and analysis of research activity including Research P&L facilities management fringe rate development.
7.Process Improvement / Special Projects
Continue to develop and revise polices and procedures to improve financial control.
Improve integration of activities across Budget Accounting and Revenue as well as across the range of businesses in the BWHC family.
Direct project work examples include: Billing analysis business plans AS&T management and review Joint Ventures and Investments Teaching funds flow from Medical School.
8.Other
Direct management of BWHC Director of Strategic Financial Planning BWHC Director of Capital Budgeting and Reporting and BWFH Budget Director.
Manage financial relationships with Brigham affiliates including BWPO CFO and Finance dept BWH Finance dept.
Management of the BWH Accounting Manager and BWPO Accounting Manager and their staff in the Partners Corporate Accounting Department Manager of Special Accounting. Additionally 10 to 15 people who work under the supervision of the above managers and directors.
Active Leader within Partners HealthCare Finance.
