Description

The City of Richmond Department of Parks Recreation and Community Facilities is seeking a highly qualified and energetic candidate to fill the position of Facility and Program Supervisor Senior. The position will report to the Recreation Program Supervisor who oversees multiple community center locations. This position involves the daily operations of a recreation facility including supervising staff leading programs and day to day operations.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Oversight of a large multigenerational community center space that includes but is not limited to the below listed duties:
  • Overseeing and training facility staff on building operations customer service and other training as needed.
  • Supervising staff including conducting performance evaluations coordinating training implementing hiring discipline and termination procedures and tracking attendance.
  • Coordinating the daily facility schedule including working with the permits division to schedule partner programs and external rentals.
  • Communicating and collaborating with community partners to expand facility offerings.
  • Developing and updating facility policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating and scheduling special event logistics such as meetings and training programs.
  • Overseeing registration and payments for programs processing receipts and revenues; maintaining and entering financial data and preparing reports.
  • Overseeing facility supplies and inventory and making purchases as needed.
  • Ensuring program information displayed online is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitoring operations in the facility to ensure safety and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Special Certifications and Licenses

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in parks and recreation management business administration public administration or a similar field.
  • Five years of professional recreational programming and parks or facilities management experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.
  • Proficient computer skills (particularly in Microsoft Office and a Recreation Management Software System such as RecTrac or similar)
LICENSING CERTIFICATIONS and OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Some assignments may require a background check additional certifications and a valid Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Drivers License within 30 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Facility Management: Understanding of the principles and practices of facility maintenance safety standards and operational efficiency.
  • Program Development: Knowledge of program design implementation and evaluation particularly related to recreation public services or other facilitybased programs.
  • Risk Management: Knowledge of risk assessment techniques and emergency procedures to ensure the safety and security of the facility staff and patrons.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff stakeholders and the public.
  • Customer Service: High level of customer service orientation to address public needs concerns and complaints in a professional manner.
  • ProblemSolving and DecisionMaking: Ability to assess situations quickly and make informed decisions especially when dealing with operational issues or emergencies
  • Technology Proficiency: Competency in using recreation management software scheduling systems and basic office software (e.g. Microsoft Office).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Due to the nature of work assignments incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly balance stand walk work with ones fingers talk see hear; frequently kneel use repetitive motions lift reach or stoop; or occasionally crouch push pull climb or grasp. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties this classification is considered to be medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects) but may differ based on area of focus.
