Job Description

Lochmueller group is seeking an experienced and energetic Roadway/Highway Design Project Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Roadway/Highway Design team. As a Roadway Design Project Engineer you will play a pivotal role in shaping the infrastructure that connects communities ensuring safe efficient and sustainable transportation solutions that positively impact peoples daily lives for years to come. This position can be based anywhere in South Carolina.
Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure.We provide multidisciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local agencies and state DOTs.

Responsibilities of this role will include:

    • Serving as a project engineer in the planning and of local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects.
    • Assisting in the preparation of project proposals budgets and schedules.
    • Conducting engineering analysis and design.
    • Preparing and reviewing project documentation reports and specifications.
    • Applying engineering techniques methods and design criteria to support project .
    • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met.
    • Collaborating with clients contractors and regulatory agencies.
    • May assign work to junior engineers or other staff.
    • Depending on the experience level of the selected candidate this role may be involved in other various responsibilities such as project management.

Qualifications for this role:

    • Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a similar engineering field
    • 5 years of relevant roadway/highway design engineering experience open to candidates with more experience
    • Experience working on SCDOT roadway design projects
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license
    • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work well in a remote work environment
