Job Description

Position Summary

The MSP Airport Police Department is hiring!

The MinneapolisSt. Paul Airport Police Department (MSP APD) a division of theMetropolitan Airports Commissions (MAC) serves the entire airport campus. The department is comprised of approximately 200 employees which includes fulltime officers parttime officers assigned to terminal checkpoints community service officers and civilian administrative positions along with our own 911 Emergency Communications Center. This makes MSP APD one of the largest police departments in the state with more opportunities for advancement and specialty assignments. Our department works closely with many federal agencies including: FBI DEA CBP TSA and USSS.

MSP Airport Police Officers are responsible for all law enforcement duties at and around the airport to include the safety and protectionof the airport community which includes 39 million annual passengers and 21000 employees. Officers enforce state statutes and federal regulations local ordinances and traffic violations. Uniformed patrols include but are not limited to the surrounding local roadways highways Air Operations Area parking ramps the terminal buildings cargo facilities and other businesses within our community.

LATERAL HIRES
For candidates with previous fulltime licensed police officer experience:
  • Pay will be evaluated based on full years of service and experience.

SCHEDULE
Currently a 12hour rotation that allows for every other weekend off.

BENEFITS
  • Employer yearly contribution to HSA plans of $1650 for single and $3300 for family coverage. PPO plan option also available.
  • MAC contribution to your retirement through the Public Employees Retirement Association.
  • Tuition reimbursement up to $4500 per year.
  • Vacation accrual starts at 120 hours. Lateral hires may receive additional accrual depending on previous experience.
  • Sick leave and 13 paid holidays annually (which includes two floating holidays).
  • Currently offering six weeks of paid parental leave after birth or adoption of child. Eligible after six consecutive months of employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed by the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board by time 12/31/25.
  • Possess a valid stateissued drivers license with no restrictions.
  • No felony convictions as defined by Minnesota State Statutes.
  • Medically physically and psychologically fit to perform the job duties.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present evidence and offer credible testimony as required in court.
  • Ability to learn the geography of MSP Airport and surrounding area.
DESIRABLES
  • Previous work experience in a law enforcement environment.
  • Law enforcement and/or nonlaw enforcement volunteer experience.
  • Previous experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations and communities.
  • Ability to fluently communicate in a second language.
