Job Description
Position Summary:
The primary focus of this position will be to teach Snapology programs. Instructors are asked to promote creativity teamwork and problem solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 214 although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculumguided activities;
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment;
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology;
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;
- Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum watching training videos and/or participating in facetoface training sessions;
- Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs;
- Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs;
- Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings as required
Qualifications:
- Criminal and Child Clearances must be current
- 2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment
- Education degree or teaching experience recommended teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Programs Available to Teach:
- Afterschool and/or evening Classes (September May)
- 12 hours in length and occur between 2:30pm5:00pm MondayFriday
- Evening Classes
- 12 hours in length and occur between 5:00pm9:00pm MondayFriday
- Offsite Events
- 14 hours in length and occur between 9:00am8:00pm
- Weekend Workshops
- 24 hours in length and occur on Friday Saturday or Sunday
- Summer Camps (June August)
- 1.57 hours in length (typically 3 hours per day) and occur between 9am4pm MondayFriday
- Other Camps & Workshops (Holiday Break Spring Break InService Days)
- 1.57 hours in length (typically 3 hours per day) and occur between 9am4pm MondayFriday
- Birthday Parties
- 2 hours in length and occur on Friday Saturday or Sunday
- Special Events
- 18 hours in length and occur anytime
HOURS: All instructor positions are parttime usually 210 hours per week; however additional hours may be available if you are willing to facilitate parties
TRAINING: Training is provided.
REQUIREMENTS: Criminal and Child clearances must be current. Education degree or teaching experience recommended; teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position.
