The mission of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program is to heal the invisible wounds of war including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) by connecting post9/11 veterans and military families to world class care. Home Base provides clinical care and support services as well as community education and innovative research. We provide clinical care to active duty service men and women veterans and their families.Home Base seeks to hire a PHP developer who can hit the ground running and write beautiful mission critical PHP to a high standard in a timely and scalable way that improves the codebase of our core operational applications.The qualified candidate will support the Associate Director of Research and the Bioinformatics Specialist in the analysis of data generated by multiple research projects and a novel collaborative network. The qualified candidate will clean and curate data using prewritten analysis tools maintain datasets integrate tools and databases into existing pipelines and facilitate the display and the distribution of processed data. The programmer analsyt will consult with the Information Systems Manager in the development monitoring and updating for the data Dashboard. The successful candidate must be highly organized motivated and able to thrive in a fastpaced team environment. Ability to multitask prioritize options and execute on tasks while anticipating challenges is extremely important.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate will be responsible for designing modifying developing analyzing test debug document and implementing webbased applications using PHP / LINUX / MySQL / TSQL / HTML / CSS / WSDL / JSON and JavaScript where data is shared between multiple applications and other organizations in a secured ways. Working alongside Home Base informatics and research colleagues to clean and analyze highthroughput programmatic data. Add documentation and error reporting to existing tools. Create reports of data quality Create pipelines using existing analysis tools to process data in an automated fashion. Ensure Data quality control is constantly applied to incoming data sets
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Understanding of open source projects like WordPress Joomla Drupal Strong knowledge of MySQL and MS SQL database administration including working with PHP My Admin and MS Management Studio and creating Stored Procedure and Triggers. Working knowledge of best practice database design and optimization. Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML CSS Javascript AJAX SOAP JSON etc Good knowledge of relational databases encryption Dreamweaver development environment and developing web services. Experience in common thirdparty APIs (Google Facebook etc) Passion for best design and coding practices and a desire to develop new bold ideas Personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines and multitask efficiently.
EDUCATION:
BS degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related subject
EXPERIENCE:
3 years of software development experience in PHP
