Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Colton School District is hiring a Licensed Roving Substitute Teacher to work two days a week (when school is in session) for the remainder of theschool year. The Substitute Teacher will perform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer. The Substitute Teacher must be willing to work in the elementary middle and high school and may be asked to work at multiple schools in one day.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold a current valid Oregon teaching license or Restricted Substitute Teaching License from TSPC.
- Previous classroom experience preferred.
- Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to a multitude of assignments within a day dependent upon where coverage is needed each period.
- Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods.
- Possesses functional computer literacy knowledge of word processing and an understanding of how computers can assist instruction.
- Must be able to work with elementary middle and high school students.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with students parents and teachers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Perform physical requirements which may include:
- A moderate degree of physical stamina.
- Ability to stand walk and bend frequently and physically move students or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take attendance for assigned classes each day or teaching period.
- Explain homework or assigned work for each class or teaching period.
- Motivate students to accomplish stated objectives.
- Give clear directions and ask for student understanding.
- Manage classroom behaviors by establishing a positive rapport with students and setting high expectations for behavior.
- Provide and implement learning activities and objectives for each child served.
- Perform duties that are commensurate with the regular teachers assigned schedule.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned to meet the unique needs of individual students.
- Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe secure learning environment.
- Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.
- Supervise students in all school settings.
- Communicate concerns with the building principal or regular teacher.
- Other duties as assigned.
