Job Description

BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social wellbeing. From toddlers to seniors we feed shelter teach and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. We have 65 locations throughout the borough providing a variety of programs that offer assistance in the areas of family children and youth support educational services elder care homelessness mental health and workforce development. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary responsibility focuses on participant recruitment and supporting case managers. Collaborate and coordinate with program team to fulfill all program requirement and services that may need additional support.
  • Attend all relevant recruitment events on a monthly basis(including some evenings and weekends) and work to continue to build recruitment and outreach opportunities within communities and/or partnerships
  • Build and sustain relationships with the key personnel of local high schools / colleges NYCHA and other key community institutions to help programmatic recruitment efforts
  • Assess each interested applicant for program fit and match with contractual enrollment criteria as it relates to the healthcare sector focused training area.
  • Complete a thorough assessment and design a corresponding service plan in collaboration with each qualifying applicant. (certification graduation internship and job placement goals)
  • Complete necessary enrollment paperwork. Regularly address barriers to program participation. Be aware of changing needs of client; advocate and modify service plan development accordingly
  • Facilitate youth work readiness sessions in college readiness job search and networking entrepreneurial skills and mock interviews for each new Train & Earn cohort.
  • Conducts weekly young adult training info sessions and new cohort orientation for prospective students and answer questions about the Train and Earn program.
  • Coordinate weekly social supports and referrals to include but not limited to mental health medical employment educational childcare and other social service needs to help achieve family and financial success. Ensure participants follow through with all referrals.
  • Complete exit steps at the end of each cohort and assist with the coordination and output of placements into resulting in outcomes for all youth.
  • Assure quality timely data entry into both fundermandated databases and the companys Salesforce database.
  • Attend team meetings case conferences and supervisory sessions; including all funder meetings
  • Manage a caseload and document program activities and progress (including successes and challenges); including maintaining an active retention and alumni caseload.
  • Conduct home visits and other fieldwork as required
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in social work human services field or another related field of study preferred. Candidates with other educational backgrounds and/or equivalent years of experience (i.e. associates degree) or 3 years of successful case management/counseling experience.
  • Experience working on multiple projects and balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong skill set in data management and data tracking; demonstrated experience managing data collection analysis and reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
  • Background in youth development
  • Previous recruitment experience is a plus

POSITION CRITERIA:

  • A track record in providing comprehensive case management services to young adults. Familiarity with the public and nonprofit social service systems and entities that target this population.
  • Prior experience working with DYCD funded programs a plus
  • Demonstrated success with outcomes and performance management
  • Candidate should be a credible messenger with strong community connections and resources.
  • Support a culture of professionalism designed to teach and cultivate a realworld working experience for the youth and young adults served.
  • Provide support with post exit process (i.e. post exit placements etc. including monthly followup support as required by funder.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with clients of diverse cultural and language backgrounds
  • Must be comfortable in intercultural environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
