Job Title: Controls Estimator
Job Summary: The Controls Estimator is responsible for developing cost estimates on routine small to large projects as required by clients documents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed proposals.
- Prepare timely and accurate estimates of costs.
- Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
- Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
- Obtain pricing for materials.
- Inform the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
- Prepare both plan/spec and design/build estimates and proposals. The preparation of the estimate includes piping and sheet metal take off soliciting prices for equipment and subcontractors and preparing a detailed written proposal explaining the scope of work project clarifications and any exclusions.
- Operate and maintain a computerized estimating system.
- Attend prebid meetings and conduct project site inspections to verify conditions affecting the pricing and installation of the project as required.
- Attend turnover meetings to communicate the unique aspects of the project to the installation team.
- Prepare estimates for change order work for ongoing projects when requested.
- Use QuickPen software to do takeoffs on drawings for HVAC systems.
- Project setup/maintenance for BIM/design/estimating.
- Maintain up to date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications.
- Participates in department meetings as requested.
- Performs additional assignments as requested and maintains a teamwork attitude.
Experience:
- Experience in HVAC & Controls estimating
- Current Drivers license
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations
- Broad understanding of mechanical construction
- High School diploma or G.E.D required
- Possess the ability to read and understand technical specifications construction plans and contract requirements.
