Job Description
The Lamit Lab in the Department of Biology at Syracuse University Syracuse New York is seeking a motivated organized detailoriented technician to work on microbial soil and plant ecology research. The technician will be responsible for a variety of daytoday lab activities with an emphasis on lab work and assisting graduate students. Activities will include DNA / RNA extractions PCR realtime qPCR soil and plant nutrient analysis clearing and staining fungal structures in roots and basic microscopy. Other responsibilities may include maintaining fungal cultures maintaining greenhouse experiments and assisting with field work. Applicants should excel at focused lab work and working with limited oversight. This is a one year appointment. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU Local 200United.

Responsibilities
DNA extraction PCR and qPCR from plants soils and fungi. Including processing and protocol development. Characterizing physicochemical properties of soils and plant samples including elemental analysis pH and soil texture. Greenhouse and field work involving plants soils and fungi. Fieldwork or research garden work on Syracuse Universities South campus other central New York locations and possibly other locations in the NE US. Working with PI to maintain a clean and organized lab space. Root clearing staining and microscopy. Other duties as assigned.
