A packet with the test date test sites mandatory forms and further information will be emailed to applicants. The deadline to apply for this test session is 12:00 pm (noon) on May 2.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Be a US Citizen
- Valid drivers license
- Must be minimum age 21 by Academy graduation date (anticipated to be January 2026
- High school diploma or GED
- An Associates degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university in law enforcement social sciences communications management or other field which is jobrelated. Applicants who do not currently possess an Associates Degree or its equivalent may also apply. A program offering college hours equivalent to an Associates Degree may be extended to Academy attendees. If so completion of this program will meet the education requirement for this position. - Two 2 years active duty military OR
- Three 3 years law enforcement experience in a fulltime capacity OR
- An equivalent combination of jobrelated accredited college/university hours and prior law enforcement experience in a fulltime capacity OR
- Two 2 years full time experience employed in Central Dispatch at the Owensboro Police Department
- Shall not be a convicted felon nor be guilty of a Class A OR 3 or more Class B misdemeanors
- Shall not have used illegal within 12 months of anticipated hire date
EXCELLENT PAY AND BENEFITS: Current Base hourly rate is $28.0756/hour. If you work 2080 hours per year this amounts to approximately $58397. Provided benefits include but are not limited to; health insurance group life insurance and wellness program. Paid time off including vacation sick time bereavement military leave and holidays (for eligible employees). CERS Hazardous Duty Retirement through the Kentucky Retirement System. After completion of required training police officers are eligible for $4429 a year in state incentive pay subject to change.
