As a Network Technician at STEP you will work alongside STEP Engineers to complete projects safely and with excellence. This position will provide support activities including preconfiguration work transportation of equipment installation and testing and/or configuration of devices such as UPS units switches wireless equipment and other networking components. This is a part time position.

Core Duties and Responsibilities - Responsible for the physical installation/placement of equipment including but not limited to network switches VSPs wireless access points (indoor and outdoor) phones and security cameras in classrooms network closets gyms offices government buildings and residential exteriors.
- Handle receipt and inventory of equipment.
- Prepare equipment for deployment to customer locations including unboxing network equipment putting rack ears on switches and placing fan and/or power supplies in switches.
- Use various tools for building and installing network equipment with extensive use of ladders and some work on lifts.
- Perform cabling and wireless equipment installation and testing.
- Perform site preparation and cleanup activities.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Ideal Candidates Qualifications and Experience - Any combination of training education and/or experience that provides for the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the duties listed above.
- Experience in computer programming systems analysis systems support network technician services or technical support with basic understanding of Ethernet WiFi IP VoIP and the OSI model preferred.
- Ability to climb crawl stoop bend and utilize ladders.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Safety conscious and punctual.
- Eager to learn and collaborate with others.
- Possess strong multitasking and attention to detail skills.
- Able to follow directions and work independently when necessary.
- Able to travel instate and outofstate regularly.
