General Information:

Become a valuable part of the JMU community by assisting with caring for the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum a lush forest sanctuary located on campus in the heart of the stunning Shenandoah Valley.

If you love being outdoors and are interested in the flora around us then maybe a position at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum is for you! Located off University Blvd. across from E Hall and Jennings the Arboretum is a great place to get active and have fun while learning about landscaping fundamentals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include weekly maintenance eating blowing mowing) watering mulching chipping trails and cleaning debris. You may also assist with planting and weeding. Tools used include but are not limited to: eater blower walkbehind mower hand tools such as pruners loopers trowel shovel rake mattock rock bar etc. Vehicles driven include John Deer Gator and Polaris ATVs and golf carts.

Shifts will be between 6:30 am and 3 pm Monday Friday.

Qualifications:

This position begins after May 15 and concludes by midAugust (exact date negotiable). You must have held a valid drivers license for 2 years and be 19 or older.
You must be available to complete shifts between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. MondayFriday. This position is for 32 hours/week. Related experience is helpful but not necessary.

Conditions of Employment:

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a parttime wage position with no benefits.
