Job Description

The Assistant Director would be granted signature authority will help locate and write grants for the CORE will work on scheduling and procuring qualified adjuncts will assist with budget and promotional materials will provide support for Core Teaching fellows will assist in daytoday functioning of the Core and will help with student interface. The Assistant Director will also act as a liaison with the Center for Academic Success and will communicate with units across campus and confer with the Director on Core policies maintain and organize assessment data and reports from different areas of the Core including Signature Courses and assist in the search for Core Teaching Fellows. This person would be at the right hand of the Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary administrative support and assistance for Core Director students and Core Fellows: provide support and assistance to students CORE Fellows on University Core Curriculum issues (for example curriculumrelated issues for students and assistance in faculty development planning). This position will include signature authority for these matters (in conjunction the with the director). This will include academic advising transfer advising review and completion of student audits for graduation. Can determine student graduation readiness visvis core requirements in conjunction with the Core director.

Recruitment Hiring and Promotion: Responsible for recruitment and coordination/assistance to the hiring committee for University Core Curriculum fellows and to the Director for the hiring of adjuncts for the University Core Curriculum. Work in conjunction with director to write and compile promotional materials for events and other Corerelated matters.

Budget planning and management: Responsible for assisting the director in budget planning review and administration. Responsible for maintaining the daytoday financial functioning of the University Core Curriculum such as salary and stipendrelated paperwork other financial forms payment to vendors ordering of office supplies advertising for positions and events etc.

Scheduling: Responsible for setting up the University Core Curriculum schedule including communication with departments and schools across the university and creation of policies and procedures to facilitate the functioning of the Core schedule in Banner and within departments/schools. Work closely and

collaboratively with the Center for Academic Success to coordinate the schedule for approximately 85 sections per semester and troubleshoot potential problems.

Facilities management and oversight: ordering supplies computer equipment etc. as well as overseeing contractors printers etc. Responsible for the oversight of our three spaces (the Core Office the Core Conference Room and the Core Center all in Mooney Hall).

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in field related to the CORE such as philosophy religion theology. history or English or other relevant experience.

Specialized Knowledge or raining: Knowledge of budget planning and management. knowledge of administrative duties such as scheduling and coordination with other departments.

Analytical: Ability to develop scheduling schema designing efficient communication regarding schedules planning and classes.

Project/Process Mgt.: Skilled in budget planning and processing of finances in conjunction with the Director. Skilled in development and promotion of Corerelated meetings events and other issues.

Computer/Technical: Fluency in MS Word and Excel as well as internet research and familiarity with other MS Office applications.

Written Communication: Excellent formal and informal written communication skills.

Oral Communication: Excellent oral communication skills in meetings and presentation settings.

Other: experience with hiring process of adjuncts and/or other staff/administrators.

Desired Qualifications:

Masters Degree in field related to the CORE such as Philosophy religion theology history English or other relevant training/experience

AD150 Administrative
