Job Description

The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospaces strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs customers and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of spaceenabled mission effects.

The CrossMission Effectiveness Department (CMED) in the Integrated Performance Subdivision leads integration and application of modeling and simulation capabilities and modern analysis workflows to support endtoend effects chain analysis and space and spaceenabled campaign modeling. As an Engineering Manager of a section of CMED you will lead teams that provide technical capabilities to support our customers in modeling simulation and analysis (MS&A) of space air and groundbased systems of systems to investigate architecture and concept of operations (CONOPS) performance in nominal and contested operating environments. MS&A focus areas in our CMED sections include agentbased modeling red vs blue simulations military utility and capability drawdown killchain effectiveness enterprise architecture resiliency and command and control (C2 evaluation. We support a variety of customers with multifaceted program portfolios and we are looking for curious and innovative teammates to help us address our customers hardest problems!

Work Model:

This position is onsite at either Aerospaces Chantilly or Colorado Springs location with some limited hybrid (telework) opportunities.

Your technical leadership responsibilities will include:

  • Influence government customers by serving as integration leader for the sections modeling and simulation capabilities.

  • Translate program office needs into modeling simulation and analysis project plans and tasks.

  • Initiate and participate in collaboration opportunities across program offices and interdisciplinary technical organizations to achieve innovative solutions and optimal efficiencies.

  • Use and contribute to the development of inhouse and commercial and governmentofftheshelf engineering analysis tools and analysis products.

  • Develop and present briefings and reports for program offices and customers.

Your people management responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain a strong base of customers and collaborators for the section through effective working relationships with colleagues government customers and contractor teammates.

  • Identify coordinate and assign work activities for direct reports and facilitate timely completion of these efforts.

  • Effectively communicate and manage conflict and competing priorities.

  • Develop staff through formal and informal performance management evaluation mentoring/coaching and tasking.

  • Lead fulltime staff and student intern recruiting hiring and onboarding efforts.

  • Review section work products for quality and accuracy.

  • Promote sharing and exchange of knowledge and information enterprisewide.

  • Assist the management team in formulating and implementing department strategy and other business functions.

What You Need to be Successful Engineering Manager Modeling & Simulation Engineering

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in in engineering (aerospace astronautical mechanical or software) computer science physics operations research or closely related technical field from an accredited school.

  • 6 years of progressively more responsible engineering experience.

  • Technical understanding of astrodynamics space operations and system/architecture threat and resiliency concepts.

  • Experience Python C or other programing languages.

  • Ability to form and lead highly productive intra and inter organizational teams.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment under ambiguous and fluctuating customer expectations.

  • Ability to identify prioritize and delegate tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and staff.

  • Current Top Secret Clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • An advanced degree in applicable STEM areas or other relevant disciplines.

  • Experience in endtoend enterpriselevel analysis and understanding of space mission interdependencies.

  • Expertise with the following: communications infrastructure command and control (C2 space surveillance spacecraft ground systems multiphenomenology remote sensing techniques spacecraft maneuvering threats or spacedriven killchains.

  • Proficiency with the Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).

  • Experience modeling the space domain in AFSIM and/or integrating external tools with AFSIM.

  • Knowledge of Intelligence Community U.S. Department of Defense and Department of the Air Force business practices and programs.

  • Experience with any of the following: Digital Engineering including modern software development methodologies tools processes and hardware distributed frameworks automated workflows with CI/CD and cloud computing

  • Experience in a people management role.

  • Current Top Secret/SCI Clearance with polygraph and special programs access.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge and skills.
