Job Description

The ideal candidate will be available to start immediately and possess the necessary skills and experience for the role.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Accountant to join our Financial Accounting Team. As a Technical Accountant you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely accounting reporting and reconciliations for all IFRS 16 lease agreements across our national and international branches. You will also be responsible for managing an outsourced provider and collaborating with various internal teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IFRS 16 accounting stakeholder management and a proactive approach to process improvement.


Responsibilities:
  • Assure the accurate and timely IFRS 16 accounting reporting and reconciliations for 600 branch agreements both national and international in collaboration with operations teams (Regional Managers and Regional Administrators).
  • Ensure that all relevant factors impacting network and site leases are captured in monthly reports and accounted for in accordance with IFRS 16. Manage the IFRS 16 accounting outsource provider.
  • Conduct budgeting forecasting and variance analysis for all IFRS 16 balances.
  • Perform effective reconciliation and reporting of all IFRS 16 balances to ensure data accuracy.
  • Adhere to FRS101 statutory disclosure requirements.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all IFRS 16 matters within the organization.
  • Stay updated with any changes in IFRS 16 and ensure compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting quality management reporting reconciliation processes system controls and efficiency.
  • Provide support for statutory audits and ensure compliance with control standards (e.g. ISAE 3402 as required.
  • Challenge the status quo stay informed about external market trends and leverage this knowledge to drive improvements and learning opportunities.

Requirements:
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in IFRS 16 accounting is preferable.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external service providers.
  • A team player who can work collaboratively and contribute to the success of the Financial Accounting Team.
  • Ability to understand lease agreements and interpret them appropriately for IFRS 16 compliance. Capable of implementing manual and system changes to ensure compliance.
  • Audit experience to ensure compliance with policies and internal control procedures particularly in managing external service providers.
  • Willingness to perform ad hoc duties as required by your manager.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting (BCOM Accounting) and qualification as a CA(SA) is beneficial.
