Overview
Bronx Care Health Systems Department of Psychiatry seeks a CASAC Counselor for the Life Recovery Chemical Dependence Program. BronxCare Health System is one of only a few hospital systems in New York State to have an Outpatient Addictions TreatmentProgram Opioid TreatmentProgram Inpatient Detoxification unit an Inpatient Rehabilitation unitand a Community Residence located on the same campus. In addition to these multiple levels of addiction treatment BronxCare Health System has comprehensive mental health services provided by our Department of Psychiatry the largest mental health provider in the South and Central Bronx.
The CASAC Counselor will perform crisis intervention with patient and/or family in accordance with hospital standards. Explain and clarify to patients the purpose of the various treatment modalities and their functions and how such programs may be of service to them in accordance with hospital standards. Perform prescreening or admissions for the purpose of assessment of the substance abused by the patient treatment needs coverage verification and appropriateness of the unit in accordance with hospital standards Compile psychosocial history on each patient and perform other essential data gathering activities and records accurate in accordance with hospital standards.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of full time paid experience in Addiction Services (two years preferred)
Counseling Life experience that includes a satisfactory recovery from Alcohol or other Substance Abuse for a minimum of Three years.
