Job Description
Role of the High School Physics TeacherSaint Johns High School is seeking a dynamic and engaging Physics teacher. We value diversity and are looking for candidates who are not only knowledgeable in their field but also compassionate dedicated and eager to collaborate with students faculty and staff alike.The ideal candidate is committed to learning and practicing science both as a student of the science and as a guide in the science. The educator is passionate about guiding young men as they construct their understanding of science in an inquirybased classroom environment. The educator consistently practices and demands high standards especially in daily personal and professional growth and inspires others to do the same through optimism selflessness flexibility and teamwork. In addition this educator is a collaborator with an appreciation for the teachable moment when moral and ethical questions arise in and out of the classroom. With robust interpersonal skills the selected candidate has a real desire to contribute to the school community by sharing their passions and through additional efforts such as joining retreats advising students coaching teams directing clubs or supervising activities. In addition to enthusiasm integrity and intellectual curiosity we seek a teacher committed to an inclusive school community. The teacher will be responsible for the implementation of curricula designing assessments that measure student progress and achievement using assessment data to inform instructional practices and participating in collaborative activities.Minimum QualificationsA love and appreciation of science as a philosophy and as a human activity.An undergraduate degree in physics or a related field (advanced degree preferred).Experience teaching at the high school level (APlevel physics instruction preferred)Fluency with current disciplinespecific pedagogy.Ability to assess student engagement successes and struggles with scientific thought and practice.Dedication to supporting the academic social and emotional wellbeing of all students.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to articulate effectively the values and mission of Saint Johns High School and the Xaverian Brothers.Commitment to Catholic education.Knowledge of contemporary scientific issues topics and trends especially those impacting boys and young men.Knowledge of contemporary educational issues topics and trends especially those impacting boys and young men.Enthusiasm for working with High School students.Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty.Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail Google Drive Google Calendar etc..Facility and experience with incorporating educational technology into the classroom.A commitment to including and encouraging all students from all backgrounds.TO APPLY: Interested candidates should submit the following materials confidentially as separate PDF attachments in one email.
