Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals for the role of SOLTutor. As a part of our team you will play a vital role in providing personalized academic support to students in need. In this role you will collaborate closely with teachers and instructional coaches to address individual student needs. Essential Functions:

With the support of the classroom teacher and instructional coaches

  • provide highintensity tutoring to students in reading and math.
  • implement effective teaching strategies and techniques to ensure maximum engagement and learning outcomes for the students (lesson plans provided).
  • use instructional technology to monitor and assess student progress regularly providing feedback and guidance to help students improve their academic performance.
  • maintain accurate records of student attendance assignments and assessments ensuring confidentiality and privacy of sensitive information.
  • participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills as a highintensity tutor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Background in education and experience working with diverse student populations
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to effectively communicate with students
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential
  • Knowledgeable of or a desire to learn about current educational technology and resources to enhance instruction.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues administrators and support staff to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma required; a college degree preferred
  • At least one year of experience working in a similar capacity and/or with schoolaged children.

Terms of Employment:Hourly position (minimum of 10 hours per week; maximum of 40 hours per week)

Salary Range: This is an hourly position. Hourly rates are as follows: $20/hour for nondegreed tutors; $30/hour for degreed tutors who do not hold a teaching license; $50/hour for licensed teachers serving as tutors.
