Position Summary
I am seeking an experienced researcher to study the effect of temperature on transmission of Rift Valley fever and Japanese Encephalitis viruses. These studies will address questions on transmission efficiency viral population genetics and the molecular underpinnings of vector competence under different environmental conditions. These studies will involve extensive manipulation with live infected mosquitoes at BSL3 containment detailed recordkeeping and testing samples using standard virological and molecular biology techniques. This research will be conducted in collaboration with the USDA in Manhattan Kansas. The successful candidate will report to Dr. Rebekah Kading and be assigned to the Department of Microbiology Immunology and Pathology. This project will involve considerable work in a BSL3 laboratory and managing select agent records and inventory.
