The ESL teacher will teach English Learners in grades 9 11 in the Summer Discovery Program at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. The teacher will instruct students using ESL thematic curriculum the WIDA 2020 ELD Standard and appropriate English language development pedagogy and sheltered immersion methodology. The teacher will plan and teach lessons using the SIOP Model of instruction and implement appropriate strategies for students with diverse linguistic and learning needs.
*Work: 25 hours per week
MinimumRequirements:
ESL teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching ELLs and experienced in planning lessons using Sheltered Immersion methodology.
The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues demonstrate high expectations for English language learners be effective in working with immigrant families and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in English as a Second Language/Applied Linguistics.
Experience: At Least 3 years experience teaching middle or high school ESL and teaching linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.
Languages: Proficiency in English required fluency in a language other than English is preferred.
Certification: MA Teacher Certification in secondary ESL and/or SEI grades 9 12 (or grades 5 9
Length of Contract:
July 1 2025 through August 15 2025
Contract Amount
$50.00 hourly not to exceed $5500.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a nonexemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
