The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 has an opening for the role of part time Operations Technician beginning in May 2025.
This role is temporary for 6 months but has the potential for renewal.
You will work approximately 15 to 21.5 hours per week and you must be available to work Saturdays Sundays and
holidays. Hours of work will typically be 9am to 5pm but may change based on the needs of the Museum.
The hourly rate is $17.75 plus 4 vacation pay.

Job Summary
The Operations Technician monitors maintains and troubleshoots equipment to ensure safe efficient and compliant operations. They also work with museum teams for event setup including moving tables and chairs and presetting audiovisual equipment.
The Operations Technician is an important team member who helps provide an enjoyable and safe experience for Museum visitors. This position encompasses various duties from daily building maintenance to internal events and assisting with staff requests.
Responsibilities
Interact in a professional and respectful manner with staff public and clients as required
Set up and take down of all needed audio equipment for Museum programs when an outside contractor has not been contracted
Set up and connect lectern with both power and microphone
Preset and operate house lights stage lights and footlights
Adjust audio levels and audio sources
Assist with routine maintenance repairs and perform preventative maintenance duties
Monitor operate and maintain computercontrolled systems that adjust building temperature
Assist in the scheduling of projects and work arrangements to provide minimum interference with operational duties and assignments.
Lift and move furniture within building
Assist with internal events including load ins and outs & set ups as required (including working weekends evenings and holidays)
Identify and address issues.
Follow safety protocols.
Assist Exhibition Technician by identifying technical issues in Exhibit spaces.
Skills and Qualifications Required
Able to work independently and able to accept supervision
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Basic audiovisual experience
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in general building and maintenance work
Ability to physically perform the essential functions of the job; standing on feet bend stoop reach lifting (up to 85lbs) work safely from a ladder
Skills and Qualifications Desired
Experience in maintenance skills such as painting minor drywall etc.
