Overview
The Pediatric Rehabilitation/Feeding Unit provides 24hour medical nursing respiratory and intensive therapy services. The Neurorehabilitation program treats patients ranging from infants to young adults with brain injuries spinal cord injuries chronic pain disorders feeding and swallowing disorders recovering from orthopedic surgery and complex medical conditions.
This position is 40 hours per week working 2 evening shifts 3:00pm11:30pm) and 2 night shifts 7:00pm7:30am) every week including every other weekend.

Under the direction of the licensed nurse and at the beginning of every shift the Nursing Technician I reviews the electronic medical records and interdisciplinary protocols for assigned patients.
With the licensed nurse prioritizes work schedules to accommodate the needs of assigned patients and the efficient functioning of the unit.
Provides direct patient physical care including patients personal hygiene consistent with the patients levels of adaptive skills.
Ambulates positions and turns patients and cares for patients with altered mobility.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
Prepares and transports patients for scheduled appointments and remains with patients when required.
Assumes responsibility for cleanliness neatness and organization of the patients environments and helps maintain a safe patient environment.
Documents in the electronic medical records with clear concise and accurate data regarding patients conditions issues etc.
Identifies and reports problems and concerns to the licensed nurse regarding patient protocols including any changes in patients physical/emotional health.
Collects labels and transports laboratory specimens and other requested items to appropriate areas as assigned.
Actively participates in Nursing Department activities including inservices to improve the work environment.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Completion of a recognized training program in providing direct patient care (i.e. Nursing Assistant Certificate).
Experience with pediatric and/or developmental disabled population preferred.
