Terms of Employment:Nine 9 months academic school year
Hours: 8:00am 3:00pm Monday through Friday
Education:High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
Qualifications:Background or interest in medical procedures and cares of children. Successful completion of the UAP certification with the North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or from another state registry recognized by the NDBON within one month of employment.
Job Goal:UAPs are trained to function in an assistive role to the registered nurse in the provision of care activities as delegated by and under the supervision of the registered nurse. Employees in this position are trained to supplement the services of school nurses by assisting students requiring care management of their condition or diagnosis.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Training requirements: The Paraprofessional is required to attend all inservice and preservice training sessions as required including medication training and any specific training related to the students condition or diagnosis. Must be CPR and First Aid Certified and maintain this certification.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit walk and stand. Lift sixty 60 lbs. occasionally with the ability to reach stand walk carry bend stoop kneel crouch sit and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely. Maintain mental capacity allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the School Nurse and the building principal.
