You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailReporting to the senior vice president for student affairs the associate vice president for campus life and director of residence (AVPCL) provides leadership within the student affairs division in advancing the mission and goals of the division coordinating efforts within the units and with other university operations through the development of strong communication and working relationships contribution to executive decision making and implementation of plans.
Qualifications and Characteristics of the Successful Candidate
A masters degree and at least eight years of related experience are required. An advanced degree in business hotel restaurant and institution management student personnel administration higher education administration or a related area is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess ten years of experience managing a multiunit housing operation or department within a large university operation; experience supervising several midmanagement level professional staff; experience in residence life educational and developmental programming; and experience operating/managing an auxiliary.
The position requires broad knowledge of management techniques experience in large budget development and financial management principles facilities maintenance and capital improvements and residence life educational programming philosophy and practices.

Responsibilities of the Position
The AVPCL develops a coordinated and cohesive approach among the department of residence (DOR) Iowa State University (ISU) dining and the Memorial Union. The AVPCL supervises the director of university housing the director of ISU dining and the director of the Memorial Union to create aligned and collaborative strategic initiatives between each department. Additionally they will supervise a director of capital projects a newly created position to support the division of student affairs. The AVPCL serves as division leader for strategy capital planning and student housing matters and provides leadership for and in conjunction with others to provide leadership for strategic plan development and assessing progress of established goals.
This position serves at the pleasure of university administration and is exempt from certain P&S policies.
